Find help
A verse can steady you. Sometimes you also need a person. If what you are carrying is heavy, please reach out to one of the places below. Asking for help is not a lack of faith.
If you are in crisis right now
Call or text 988 in the United States, any time, day or night. It is free and confidential. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Finding a counselor
- Christian Care Connect is a directory of Christian counselors from the American Association of Christian Counselors.
- Psychology Today’s therapist finder lets you search by zip code and filter by faith, insurance and specialty.
- FindTreatment.gov is a United States government site for finding mental health and substance use treatment near you.
- The SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 gives free, confidential referrals, any time.
Talking with a pastor
If you have a church, your pastor or a women’s ministry leader is a good first call. You do not need to have the right words. “I am struggling and I need to talk” is enough.
If you do not have a church:
- Ask a friend you trust where she goes, and whether she would go with you.
- Call a church near you and ask if a pastor or a care team member can meet with you. Most will, whether or not you are a member.
- Ask whether the church has a women’s group or a grief or care ministry.
